Many parts are not available from Medela in "retail packaging", but rather are packaged in "bulk". The utmost care is taken to insure all parts are kept clean and minimally handled. As with any new product to be used with a baby, sterilization before you use it for the first time is recommended (except for tubing because trapped water can cause mildew).
